We may be set to see the likes of Gary Barlow, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and even Princes William and Harry in Episode 8, but that’s nothing compared to the latest confirmed cast member.
Director Rian Johnson has revealed that Carrie Fisher’s dog – Gary – will feature.
In fact, the widely popular pooch – who was a regular on the press tour for Episode 7 alongside Fisher – has already been seen in an existing image.
Although enhanced to look a bit more alien-like, the dog can be seen on Canto Bight, in the background of a shot between Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) and Finn (John Boyega).
One Twitter user wrote: “@rianjohnson we @FanthaTracks want to know if you can confirm this cute little creature is #spacegary in #TheLastJedi.”
Johnson replied: “YES! Wow, good eyes.”
Gary’s appearance will be all the more poignant following the death of Fisher last year, shortly after filming had been completed.
Her final performance as General Leia Organa is set to be one of the big talking points of the new blockbuster, which is finally released next week.
The Last Jedi picks up where The Force Awakens left off; with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) meeting for the first time, and the Resistance facing a big uphill challenge.
Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) will be seen in the flesh for the first time, and the likes of Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro, as well as Tran, will make their franchise debuts.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out on December 14 in the UK.
