The Spaniard won three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues while in charge of the Catalan club between 2008 and 2012.
And now he has got his Blues side playing equally attractive football while setting a staggering pace in the race of the Premier League title.
There was scepticism before Guardiola moved to City last year that he would not be able to implement his playing style in the English top flight.
But he thinks that he has proven his doubters wrong by winning 14 league games in a row – including today’s 2-1 victory against United and the 1-0 win at Chelsea in September.
“People said we couldn’t play the way we did in Barcelona in England,” said Guardiola.
“But it is possible and we did it.
“The personality to play here is what I want.
“We can play this way in England. I knew that last season.
“Always I believed we could do it. Everyone can play how they want, that’s why football is so beautiful.
“I’m happy to go to Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford and to beat them in this way.”
City extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with victory at Old Trafford.
But Guardiola’s focus has already turned to the trip to Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on Wednesday (7.45pm).
“This win means a lot in the way we played for our confidence,” he added.
”But in three days we go to Swansea in the winter time.
“We are going to face a lot of difficulties. In December it’s impossible to be champions but it’s good for us.”
