Team Europe were favourites to win the Mosconi Cup for an eighth consecutive year.
Europe needed just one more win after taking a commanding 10-4 lead into the fourth and final day.
And Joshua Filler ensured the Mosconi Cup – pool’s answer tot the Ryder Cup – headed back to Europe.
Filler beat Dennis Hatch 5-3 in the day’s first game after the American had thrown away a 3-2 lead.
Europe captain Marcus Chamat said: “I’m overwhelmed with this tournament. The way we played, the way we came here as a team and stood beside each other form the beginning.
“I have to give a hand to the American team who came here and fought really hard. You guys did good! It was a battle.
“Things could have gone the other way in the middle of it all.
“Hard work pays off. These guys put the work in and it paid off. Successful people work hard and this is what these guys did.”
Filler, having won the Mosconi Cup on his debut, said: “It couldn’t get better. For my debut it’s perfect. We have the best team spirit and I’m very happy.
“Eight times in a row. It’s amazing.”
Europe have not lost the Mosconi Cup since 2009.
