That is the view of BT Sport pundit and former Arsenal defender Martin Keown.
Wilshere starred for the Gunners in their comfortable Europa League win over BATE Borisov tonight.
The midfielder scored the third goal, his first since a brace for England against Slovenia in 2015.
He is yet to start a Premier League game this season but Keown believes with Arsenal sitting so far adrift of Manchester City at the top, Arsene Wenger might as well give Wilshere a starting role.
“Well I’m a big admire of his and was it two-and-a-half years?,” Keown said.
“I was in that stadium in Slovenia and he played like this and everyone thought he had conquered the England situation and was the next (Steven) Gerrard or (Frank) Lampard.
“Great performance that night and he’s matching it here. I know it’s not great opposition but look at his vision.
“He’s the one player in this group I feel can break into that A team so to speak.
“It’s the driving runs from midfield, he’s convincing me now that he’s fitter now than he has been since that Slovenia game.
“He’s got everything in the locker, he wants to shoot there, he tests the keeper, just finding his range.
“The movement, the touches, and there he says ‘okay, how about scoring myself as well because I need to remind the manager that I deserve to be in this team’.
“They’ve lost five games in the Premier League, they’re 15 points behind City, I see no reason why, and is it a gamble to put Jack Wilshere into the Arsenal first-team for the Premier League matches, as well as the Europa League games?”
