18:45: Sky Sports’ Championship expert David Prutton is expecting a score-draw tonight.

He said: “Aston Villa went to Griffin Park earlier this year and got absolutely turned over by Brentford, who put in a brilliant performance to win 3-0.

“There have been plenty of changes at both clubs since, however, and you’d expect this to be a very different game.

“The Bees got a great win at Norwich on Friday night and have had nearly 24 extra hours to prepare for this one, but Villa are a tougher nut to crack now so I’ll back a draw here.”

18:30: Aston Villa boast three changes from the XI that started the draw against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Former Brentford striker Scott Hogan replaces Keinan Davis in attack while Tommy Elphick comes in for Conor Hourihane, which allows Mile Jedinak to turn to midfield.

The other change sees Alan Hutton replace Ahmed Elmohamady at right-back.

Brentford make two changes from the win at Norwich last Friday.

Josh McEachran and Sergi Canos come in for Kamohelo Mokotjo and Ollie Watkins.

Brentford: Bentley, Bjelland, Mepham, Barbet, McEachran, Woods, Sawyers, Jozefzoon, Yennaris, Canos, Vibe

Subs: Daniels, MacLeod, Maupay, Mokotjo, Judge, Chatzitheordoridis, Sorenson

Aston Villa: Johnstone, Hutton, Chester, Elphick, Taylor, Snodgrass, Whelan, Jedinak, Adomah, Grealish, Hogan

Subs: Steer, De Laet, Elmohamady, Bjarnason, Hourihane, Onomah, Davis

18:15: Good evening and welcome to Express Sport’s live coverage of Brentford vs Aston Villa.

The Bees thrashed Steve Bruce’s side 3-0 in this fixture last term and will be hoping for a repeat tonight.

Dean Smith’s men have struggled for consistency in recent weeks but could make it back-to-back wins having beaten Norwich last Friday.

They cannot climb the table if they claim all three points but could cut the gap to west London rivals Fulham, who are four points clear in 11th.

Villa have not won this month and they’ve slipped to eighth in the table.

A two-goal win tonight would see them climb back into the play-off spots.

We’ll have team news in 15 minutes.
