Liverpool news: Roy Keane plays down Reds’ win against Spartak Moscow | Football | Sport

Jurgen Klopp’s side won their Champions League group last night by heavily beating their Russian counterparts.

Goals from Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, a Sadio Mane brace and Philippe Coutinho hat-trick wrapped up the win on a memorable night at Anfield.

However, Keane was less than impressed with the standard of opposition the Reds were facing.

Similar to their 7-0 beating of Maribor two months ago, Liverpool clinically put their European opponents to the sword.

But Keane thinks they will not be so potent when they come up against stronger teams in the latter stages.

“It was comfortable for them tonight, good start for them,” Keane told ITV Sport.

“But we keep repeating ourselves, the big tests are yet to come.

“Clearly they’re beating these so called lesser teams, it’s the same in the Premier League.

“They wouldn’t get that time and space against a decent team.

“Tonight they were enjoyable to watch, and if you give quality players time like that on the ball, they are going to punish you.

“But the reality is, if they’re playing a top team in Europe, they won’t get that time and space.

“They won’t get those opportunities.

“But if you step back and if you know this game, you understand they have so much bigger tests coming up.”
