This training manual codenamed CONOP 8888 imagines a hellish world following the outbreak of a major plague.
Flesh-eating monsters are killing everything in their path – so the US military needs a course of action to save humanity.
“Zombies are horribly dangerous to all human life and zombie infections have the potential to seriously undermine national security and economic activities that sustain our way of life,” the Counter-Zombie Dominance plan reads.
“Given the rapidity at which zombie outbreaks spread, decisive, overwhelming and possibly unilateral military force may be required to negate the zombie threat.”
Freaky zombies include ones infected by extreme radiation, a deadly virus or lifeforms “originating from space”.
A “chicken zombie”, which are “terrifying to behold” after being incorrectly euthanised by poultry farmers using carbon monoxide, are another threat.
The plan outlines a number of phases of how to tackle the bloodthirsty walkers including “orders to kill all non-human life” and “bomber and missile strikes against targeted sources of zombie infection”.
They would also lock down operating locations for 30 days and “aid any surviving civil authorities” in disaster zones.

The US military command said the plan was NOT considered a joke but a way of teaching students how to respond to a large-scale national emergency.
And they claimed recruits flourished and enjoyed the training because the scenario was ridiculous.
It has been previously reported that through a Freedom of Information request from a member of the public, the UK Ministry of Defence also has a contingency plan for a zombie invasion.
The MoD replied to the FoI request: “In the event of an apocalyptic incident (e.g. zombies), any plans to rebuild and return England to its pre-attack glory would be led by the Cabinet Office, and thus any pre-planning activity would also take place there.”
